Shop Technician – Fresno

Jorgensen Company is looking for a hard-working, hands-on individual that wants to learn a trade in the Fire Protection industry. The right candidate will be trained on how to inspect and repair Fire Extinguishers in our shop as well as potentially in the field. You will also be trained in various aspects of our business.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently, perform quality work with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain a clean safe work environment.
  • Must be a fast learner.
  • Must be able to pass a background check, drug test, and pre-employment physical exam including a 50lb lift test.
  • Must be able to work varied hours
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be reliable and responsible.
  • Must possess a California Driver’s license with a driving record that is acceptable to our insurance company.
  • Must be able to take and pass the Office of the State Fire Marshall test for Fire Extinguisher Service In accordance with California Health and safety Code and Regulations Title 19 within 6 months from start date of employment. We fully prepare each candidate for this exam.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Service Manager (Modesto & Stockton)

Job Description: Reporting to the Northern Regional Corporate Manager, the Service Manager holds a critical position within Jorgensen Company as they are expected to maintain high levels of integrity, production, sales, and excellent customer service as it pertains to portable fire extinguishers and fire suppression systems. As a Service Manager, they are responsible for staffing, profit, performance, safety, and stability of their team and companywide, as well as upholding company standards of excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee production within their division. Tasks include educating and scheduling staff on efficient routing and inspection completion times for production personnel, ensuring internal paperwork and AES documentation is completed correctly during inspections, and assist production personnel with issues that may arise during inspections.
  • Provide prompt, knowledgeable, and courteous customer service to resolve any disputes in a timely manner.
  • Meet with new and existing customers to promote a positive business relationship and conduct worksite surveys to identify any challenges production personnel may encounter.
  • Generate new and update existing master service agreements, contract work orders and service agreements for large customers.
  • Maintain knowledge of and continue self-education of all current applicable codes and standards associated with Fire Protection Inspection, Testing and Maintenance.
  • Guide, train, and manage production personnel while promoting employee development.
  • Maintain a positive attitude while leading a team of 8 or more technicians in an efficient and productive manner.
  • Ensure production personnel follow and comply with corporate safety programs, coordinate upcoming safety training with the Corporate Operations Manager, and identify then address safety concerns on worksites that can cause potential harm to personnel and reduce company liability.
  • Maintain company issued tools, tool lists, vehicle inventory, and ensure all testing equipment issued to personnel remains calibrated and in proper working condition.
  • Assist with tracking and provide pertinent information to corporate management required for production personnel certifications.
  • Manage company issued vehicles, inventories, and ensure vehicle maintenance frequencies are followed.
  • Ensure that proper safety, health and business laws and regulations are adhered to.
  • Maximize efficiency and company profits.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving individual staff timecards to ensure accuracy.

  • Manage, lead, and motivate personnel in a positive manner to achieve company and department goals.
  • Manage all aspects of department activities and efficiencies.
  • Solve and resolve problems, issues, disputes, and challenges of customers, personnel, and other managers with sound judgement to arrive at the best possible solution that is in the corporation’s best interest.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and Adobe
  • Passion for the mission and industry
  • Good math skills to accurately calculate sales orders, contracts, and divisional profits.
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Detail oriented
  • Minimum education level – High School graduate. Some college, technical school, or 5 years’ experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in Fire Protection and Service Industry including portable fire extinguishers, fire alarm and fire suppression systems.

Not A Requirement, but a Plus:

  • Certifications (Not required, but a plus) NICET certs, Manufacturing Fire Suppression certificate.
  • Knowledge of Epicor/Prophet 21 and Service Trade

Salary Range: $65,000 – $75,000 annually (exempt)

Estimator – Fresno

We are looking for a highly motivated individual wanting to learn a new trade in the fire protection industry. The industry is always in high demand of individuals with the willingness to implement fire life safety. An estimator at Jorgensen Company provides our customers with accurate and knowledgeable repair cost estimates for a wide variety of projects in compliance with NFPA Standards, local and state fire codes and manufacturer component requirements.

Position Qualifications:

  • Thorough understanding or willingness to learn NFPA Standards, local and state fire codes and manufacturer component requirements.
  • Ability to interpret construction blueprints and technical documents.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ Fire Protection Industry experience (Preferred but not required).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers, fire department personnel, property owners, management companies, technicians and office staff.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed and an ability to organize a workload.
  • Ability to multitask and perform basic job functions in a timely manner.
  • Proficient using Microsoft based programs such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to pass the required drug screen.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License with a driving record acceptable to our insurance carrier.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Generate fire sprinkler system repair proposals for failed inspections, small tenant improvement projects and repairs requested by the customer in compliance with NFPA Standards, local and state fire codes and manufacturer component requirements.
  • Verify the correct components and/or specialty equipment is ordered before the scope of work is scheduled with the customer.
  • Acquire fire sprinkler component pricing for all specialty repair projects.
  • Verify current fire sprinkler component pricing is up to date.
  • Provide scope of work clarification to all sprinkler technicians on an as needed basis.
  • Provide assistance to customer’s regarding pricing questions or concerns on an as needed basis.
  • Complete call-backs for all unsigned proposals on a monthly basis, time permitted.
